Priests is yet another favorite class of mine and and number 2 on my “time played top list”. These days I have two priests that I play, a troll priest that is level 90 and a night elf (gnome) priest that is level 85. They are both main speced disco with a shadow off-spec.
The troll priest is actually the first ever character I made in WoW and my first main. We were five IRL friends who started to play together and everyone else knew exactly what they wanted to play. Turns out none of them wanted to heal, and as I wasn’t so specific on what I wanted to do I landed the heal role. I went for a priest thinking I could spend most of my time in shadow form (since that sounded totally awesome) and just heal when we all grouped up for dungeouns. Yeah, this was before I realised that I actually love to heal.
My hubby was also one of the five ppl in this group, he made a female orc warrior who was the tank of our group. His orc and my priest kinda belong together. They have explored the game together from day one and we have so many great memories of the two of them together. During the start of Cataclysm they went through an awkward goblin phase together. But no matter how much we both love goblins it just felt so wrong to have these beloved characters in another shape; we had to change them back to their original looks.
So as mentioned, I stayed shadow speced for most of level 10-60 even though I was healing a lot in dungeons. And I was a real noob when it came to picking gear, so I didn’t have any spi. I was all about int and stamina (although, being on a PvP server the stam really did come in handy). It resulted in me having to drink a lot between fights and not really healing as well as I could have…so even though I enjoyed healing while we were leveing it wasn’t all that fun at top level.
Funnily enough it wasn’t untill later after I had changed main to my hunter and started raiding seriously that I got interested in healing end-game content. I saw all the raid healers do their thing and I knew that was what I wanted to do. So I started to read up on the theory crafting, changed my priest over to holy and sure enough I fell in love with healing for real and I’ve stuck with it as my main role ever since.
My night elf priest came about as an alt after I had re-rolled alliance on a PvE server. Together with my mage she is probably the character I have race changed the most. First she was a draenei, then a dwarf and now she’s a night elf. It’s no wonder she’s a bit confuced about her ethnicity.
I used to wish that you could be a gnome priest, back when you couldn’t. My ally priest has a serious love for all things gnomish and she’s been an honorary gnome since WotLK when she got the “of Gnomeregan title”. But even so I haven’t changed her to a gnome now that you can, in some ways it feels more special to be a gnomish night elf than a gnomish gnome.
